Weekend Food Tour: Viva Espana

Partners in Crime
Just taking advantage of Spain being the Champion 2010. With me are my classmates in Master of International Human Resources, Melinda (Romania) and Sophia (Taiwan). We had a blast walking around Madrid eventhough we're sweating. When we were in Madrid, we didn't explore much of the food, mostly we ate burgers and sandwiches. But definitely, I didn't leave unless I tried the famous and authentic taste of Paella.

Our first meal (brunch) upon arrival

with all those photos... i love churos the most

Ham store is all over the place...

Of course, Paellla... I didn't eat all those, just half  :)

For my share recipe, here's a simple way to make

5-6 cups of rice, cooked in tahong (mussel) broth
1 cup tahong (mussel), boiled
1/4 kilo prawns, boiled
1 chorizo de Bilbao (Spanish Sausage), sliced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 medum-sized can of tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 green pepper, sliced
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon paprika
a pinch saffron
salt and pepper to taste
oil for sauteing

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Saute onion, garlic, and chorizo. Add tomato sauce, green pepper, bay leaf, and saffron. Simmer for few minutes. Add cooked rice, continually stirring for 10-15 minutes. Add tahong (mussel) and prawns. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.

Happy Weekend! Here's a treat...
