I watched this recipe in podcast a long time ago, it's from Hubert Keller's show. He doesn't really show the exact ingredient he's adding, so I just adapted the way he made it. I only used fork and wooden spatula in doing all the mashing and mixing of ingredients.
7 small potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
100g cream cheese (I used light cream cheese)
1/4 cup fresh milk (or more)
1 egg, beaten
salt and pepper to taste
small onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon butter
In a bowl, mix the potatoes, cream cheese, fresh milk, and egg. Seasoned with salt and pepper. Place the mashed potato in a coated butter baking dish. For the toppings, mix melted butter and onion, seasoned with salt and pepper. Place on top of the mashed potato.
Enjoy! Hubert Keller is my husband's friend in Las Vegas :)

Looks so delicious...
I think onions add to any dish though I wouldn't put them in cake! Sounds like a recipe to try!

I love, love, love mashed potatoes. I could pretty much eat them with anything. And I have, in fact. Yours look delicious - I especially like the use of the onions on top!
Visiting from Mouthwatering Monday :-)
OH...now this is perfect comfort food!
I like Hubert Keller, but it can be so frustrating when ingredients and amounts are omitted from a recipe demo. Happy cooking.
